Have you ever felt like you are too old to try martial arts, or maybe too far out of shape because you haven't really exercised for years?
If so this is a typical belief among New Zealand's adult population. We lead active life as children and even throughout our 20's as we engage in a team sport like rugby or net ball. Then life gets in the way as we focus on career and family. Our own fitness gets put on the back burner and when do start to have some spare time for ourselves (typically when move into our 40's) it all gets too hard.
Today we are living longer and with the continued progress of modern medicine we can expect to live well into our 80's, 90's and even beyond. Wouldn't you rather spend these extra years being able to lead an active lifestyle? Unlike any other activity, martial arts training, particularly styles like Hapkido can be adapted as you age, slow down the aging process, will keep you moving and help you to maintain full body flexibility and strength.
We have identified people like you as people who we can really help regain some of the energy and vigor of your earlier years. Our Hapkido program will also help you get in the best shape of your life. You'll gain flexibility, build strength and improve your stamina. You will lose body fat and tone your body, all while learning proven self-defense skills and techniques.
Hapkido training can be tailored to the individual and you can start at any age and ease into our training at your own pace. Our oldest student started his Hapkido journey at age 69 and trained through to age 85 obtaining his 1st Degree Black Belt along the way.
We have developed a training program that is highly enjoyable, where you can develop friendships exercising and training with like-minded people who have similar goals. We have a number of class options that are designed to allow you to select the best option for you. A Hapkido Essentials class will help you get fit and flexbile while learning some core martial arts skills. A Core Hapkido class will teach you more self-defence skills and a Hapkido Blitz class combines both the Essentials and Core Hapkido classes.
We have a large number of students who started their Hapkido training in their 40's, 50's and 60's and we do not think that you can find a better way to spend your time than staying fit, learning a life-saving skill, and meeting people who could end up becoming your friends for life?
